PCCA Names Eric Vidrine, PD, FACA, FIACP, Pharmacist of the Year

HOUSTON (October 26, 2011): Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA) has named Eric Vidrine, PD, FACA, FIACP, of Professional Arts Pharmacy in Lafayette, La., as its Dr. M. George Webber Compounding Pharmacist of the Year, an award which is presented annually to an independent pharmacist who has demonstrated service excellence to patients, healthcare providers and pharmacy colleagues. Compounding is the pharmacy method of preparing customized medications to meet each prescriber’s and patient’s unique needs. The late Dr. Webber, for whom the award is named, was a long-time professor with the University of Houston College of Pharmacy, and was instrumental in the formation of PCCA in 1981. PCCA CEO L. David Sparks presented the award to Vidrine on October 21, 2011, during the company’s International Seminar, held in Sugar Land, Texas.

Vidrine was and remains a pioneer in instituting powder containment in his pharmacy, which is now accredited by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB)^®. He was an early entrant in the compounding arena for veterinary, dental, and hospice, and he was one of the first to use a marketer to grow his business. He helped to establish this successful business practice nationwide by sharing this model with his peers. He was instrumental in the foundation of PCCA’s first Concierge Compounding group, giving generously of his time to foster the compounding culture and initiate sharing and networking among members.

Prior to this award, Vidrine has received many awards and accolades. He was named PCCA’s August 1999 Pharmacist of the Month, received the DuPont Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award in 1997, and was named Compounding Pharmacist of the Year by the Louisiana Pharmacists Association in 2004. He is a full fellow of the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP) and the American College of Apothecaries, and is a past-president of IACP as well.
