PCCA Names Gary McCrory, RPh, CCN, Pharmacist of the Year

Award presented annually to an independent pharmacist demonstrating service excellence to patients, healthcare providers and pharmacy colleagues.


HOUSTON (October 26, 2012): Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA) has named Gary McCrory, RPh, CCN, of McCrory’s Pharmacy in El Paso, Texas, as its Dr. M. George Webber Compounding Pharmacist of the Year, an award which is presented annually to an independent pharmacist who has demonstrated service excellence to patients, healthcare providers and pharmacy colleagues. Compounding is the pharmacy method of preparing customized medications to meet each prescriber’s and patient’s unique needs. The late Dr. Webber, for whom the award is named, was a long-time professor with the University of Houston College of Pharmacy, and was instrumental in the formation of PCCA in 1981. PCCA CEO L. David Sparks presented the award to McCrory on October 26, 2012, during the company’s International Seminar, held in Sugar Land, Texas.

McCrory is a second-generation pharmacist with the highest level of ethical standards, both professionally and personally. Throughout his career, he has gained extensive knowledge in the fields of compounding pharmacy and customized medication. He serves his local health community by speaking frequently at health awareness conferences and continuing education meetings. In addition to running a successful and respected pharmacy, one of his greatest qualities is his mentorship of colleagues. His sharing of information has been exemplary, and the benefits derived by others are a great contribution to the profession.

McCrory has won many awards and accolades over the years. He was named PCCA’s May 1997 Pharmacist of the Month, was named AmerisourceBergen Good Neighbor Pharmacy® Pharmacist of the Month for the Western Region in 2004. He is a board member of the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP) and the El Paso Pharmacy Association, a Trustee and Compounding Section Chairperson for the Texas Pharmacy Association Insurance Trust, a member of the International & American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists, an AmerisourceBergen Good Neighbor Pharmacy® Regional Advisor, and a certified pharmacy preceptor in the state of Texas.
