PCCA Announces Launch of Public Affairs Department

Appoints Aaron Lopez as New Senior Director

 HOUSTON (February 6, 2014): Today, PCCA announced the launch of its Public Affairs Department, led by new Senior Director Aaron Lopez, JD. The addition of the public affairs team at PCCA will advance the company’s crucial public policy objectives, including its ongoing efforts to protect and promote the compounding industry at the local, state, and federal level. “The relationship between our industry, government and the public is growing more complex. It is critical that we commit meaningful resources to support PCCA’s public policy efforts, which are centered around preserving patients’ access to customized medicine and protecting the pharmacists and prescribers who make personalized care a viable option for those who depend on it,” said Jim Smith, President of PCCA. The Public Affairs Department will work in closely with all of PCCA’s other departments.

Mr. Lopez is a seasoned public affairs veteran with nearly two decades developing and executing campaigns for private sector companies at the local, state and federal level. He will head the Public Affairs Department alongside John Voliva, RPh, who has assumed the new role of Director of Legislative Relations. Together, the public affairs team will work across PCCA departments to address policy objectives on behalf of the company, its members and the compounding industry. In order to elevate the industry’s profile and ensure the voices of those dependent on compounded drugs are heard by decision-makers, the department will work closely with its partners including the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists, National Community Pharmacists Association and American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
