PCCA Awards Henry Truong Annual George Roentsch Scholarship

HOUSTON, Texas (November 10, 2016) – Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA) has announced Henry Truong, PharmD, MHA, ABAAHP, FAARM, of Mariner Advanced Pharmacy in San Mateo, California, as the recipient of its 2016 George Roentsch Scholarship. This scholarship provided Truong with an all-expenses-paid trip to PCCA’s 2016 International Seminar. It is awarded annually to an up-and-coming independent pharmacist and PCCA member who embodies the innovative and sharing nature for which Roentsch was well-known in the pharmacy compounding community. The award was presented to Truong on November 10, 2016, during the company’s International Seminar in Houston, Texas.

Truong has been a practicing pharmacist for over 10 years, opening Mariner Advanced Pharmacy with his wife Thao Luong in 2012. He is a Fellow of the Metabolic and Nutritional Medicine Program of Georgetown University and an active member of the California Pharmacists Association and the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists.

Erin Michael, MBA, CPhT, PCCA Director of Outside Sales, and Dennis Wong, BSc (Pharm), FAARFM, CCN, ABAAHP, 2011 PCCA Canadian Compounding Pharmacist of the Year, opened the award ceremony by telling personal stories about their experiences with Roentsch. Thomas “T. J.” Marti, PharmD, of CareFirst Pharmacy in Broken Arrow and Tulsa, Oklahoma, who was the 2015 scholarship recipient, presented the award. Truong was surprised by the presentation of a video that his family and staff had made in advance to congratulate him.

The late George Roentsch was the owner/pharmacist of The Apothecary in Keene, New Hampshire, and is fondly remembered for his work, which advanced the art and science of custom-made prescription medications. Roentsch was passionate about compounding and generously shared many of his compounding formulas and innovations with fellow compounders.
