PCCA Awards John Kim 2017 George Roentsch Scholarship

HOUSTON, Texas (October 5, 2017) – PCCA has announced John Kim, PharmD, FAARFM, of Robinson Drug in Mendham, New Jersey, as the recipient of its 2017 George Roentsch Scholarship. This scholarship provided Kim with an all-expenses-paid trip to PCCA’s 2017 International Seminar. It is awarded annually to an up-and-coming independent pharmacist and PCCA member who embodies the innovative and sharing nature for which Roentsch was well-known in the pharmacy compounding community. The award was presented to Kim on October 5, 2017, during the company’s International Seminar in Houston, Texas.

A graduate of the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University, and a Full Fellow in Anti-Aging and Regenerative/Functional Medicine through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, Kim is an active member of both the New Jersey Academy of Compounding Pharmacists and the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists.

Erin Michael, MBA, CPhT, PCCA Director of Outside Sales, opened the award ceremony. Henry Truong, PharmD, MHA, ABAAHP, FAARM, of Mariner Advanced Pharmacy in San Mateo, California, who received the 2016 George Roentsch Scholarship, presented the award. In accepting the scholarship, Kim advised his colleagues: “Take care of patients first — that's the most important part of what we do.”

The late George Roentsch was the owner/pharmacist of The Apothecary in Keene, New Hampshire, and is fondly remembered for his work, which advanced the art and science of custom-made prescription medications. Roentsch was passionate about compounding and generously shared many of his compounding formulas and innovations with fellow compounders.
