Hydrophobic (molecules/substances/drugs)

Hydrophobic is an antonym (opposite) of “hydrophilic;” as such, hydrophobic molecules, substances and drugs repel water. Hydrophobic molecules, substances and drugs that penetrate oils and fats are known as lipophilic. Lipophilic molecules, substances and drugs can penetrate lipids (oils and fats, including body fat) and can cross the blood-brain barrier.
