The QuartetRx represents an advancement in compounding aqueous oral liquids. It is an automated, table-top mixing machine that, when compared with traditional mortar-and-pestle/beaker methods for preparing oral suspensions, allows greater consistency from prescription to prescription while saving you time. It is ideal for any pharmacy that compounds aqueous oral liquids, and can be especially helpful for pharmacies with pediatric patients as well as patients in hospice or long-term care.

The QuartetRx uses a patented, planetary mixing system comprising the machine as well as the QuartetRx bottles (PCCA #35-5562). This mixing system reduces the risk of personnel exposure to chemicals, the risk of cross-contamination, and the need for clean-up. This is because the QuartetRx bottle is not only the mixing vessel and part of the wet-milling process, it’s also the dispensing container.

• Saves time and increases productivity: While the QuartetRx is mixing prescriptions—up to four at one time—the compounder can attend to other tasks, allowing for higher productivity, and because the mixing bottle is the dispensing container, it eliminates the need for transfer and reduces the need for clean-up
• Ideal for hazardous-drug compounding: The closed QuartetRx system reduces the amount of hands-on mixing that the compounder has to do and contains the process in a single bottle, limiting staff exposure to chemicals and the risk of cross-contamination
• Increases consistency and automation: The QuartetRx mixing system reduces human involvement in the mixing process, thus improving consistency from prescription to prescription, and automation is often considered beneficial in various regulatory environments
• Improves dispersion and suspendability of APIs: The QuartetRx’s wet-milling process actually smooths incorporated API particles, increasing their dispersion, suspendability and, in some cases, dissolution
